Evaluation Q.7

Looking back at my preliminary task, I feel I have learnt the following:

1. I have learned how to properly create a magazine front cover, with professional looking quality to it.

2. I have learned How one would properly Construct a double page article, this was not required in the preliminary task, and as such, is why i have learnt it since then.

3. Finally, i have learnt how to create a very proffessional looking contents page.

Many of the issues i had with the preliminary task, that i have developed from, were due to image placement, i had some issues with placing images in the correct places and also having good quality images.
I have also Progressed in my abilities in Adobe inDesign since my prelim task, this has helped make it easier to create my magazine pages, whilst avoiding unpleasant formatting issues, and helping create a more efficient creation system.

I have also acquired the knowledge of what connotes a magazine as a music magazine, this would be useful if i were to go into the magazine business, as it would allow me to be in a section of the market that i enjoy, and thus, make it easier for me to work.

Evaluation Q.6

Throughout the process of developing my magazine, I have learnt very few techniques, as I spend much of my time on the computer making documents.
However, I have learned a few ways of combining techniques to create a good looking outcome.

Through the project i used many programs, Adobe photoshop and inDesign, Blogger, Prezi, Powerpoint and Slidrocket

Before this project, I had not used Prezi or Sliderocket, but i have managed to get a grasp of these programs relatively quickly, they are comfortable programs to use, and would definitely use them again.

one of the things I learned whilst doing both this and the preliminary task, was how to move text behind someones head in a photograph, without messing with the background scenery. this is achieved through some fiddling around with layers and filters in photoshop, and takes about half an hour to accomplish.

Evaluation Q.4

Evaluation Q.3

In the uk at the moment, there are many media companies around. The main media institutes in the UK at the moment are Bauer media, Earst, and Future publications.

Personally, I would like my magazine to be published by Future Media, this is due to the fact they
already have a successful metal magazine around, called Metal Hammer, So they could include the
first one maybe as a free gift in Metal Hammer.

Metal Hammer is aimed at a similar target audience to my magazine, although it is aimed at an
older age group.

In my magazine I would also include some advertisements from related products, such as Drop
Dead Clothing, to increase the money generated by my publication, this would make it more likely to be kept on as an ongoing project by Future media.

Evaluation of Music Magazine Q.1

I have utilised many conventions of music magazines in my product. On the front cover of my magazine, some of the conventions I have stuck with are quite obvious. The masthead is written in a unique and easily identifiable font, and is also, like many other music magazines, behind the head of the main actor in the image, this is quite common in magazines.

double page spread Production

I wrote out the interview that I drafted during the previous post, added colour to the questions and put large quotes in spaces, like other magazines do, and turned all the text white so that it would show up on a black background

Added the aforementioned background.

Added an image into the spread, as a placeholder for when I manage to acquire more images.
At the moment, most of my images are very similar, and the ones that are not, are not suitable for the spread.

Although they are hard to see, I added page numbers in the bottom corners. They use the pink and blue so fit in with the house style.

Interview Draft

A Thousand Eyes reveal how they feel about thousands of eyes watching them for their debut album due next year.
Not only did we get shots of their unplugged session, we got an exclusive interview with them.
Max answered most of the questions but if someone else answered, well let you know.

Let's Begin:

How did you guys meet and get together as a band?
Well, Abby, Ross and I were all at college together, and we jammed now and then, but we needed a drummer. When we got back to college for our second year together, Ryan had started and said he was a drummer looking for a band, and that's pretty much it.

What are your main influences as a band?
We're not too sure really, there is a massive range of stuff, I mean, it's primarily metal, slipknot and such, but we also liked to change up some other things, a bit of ska punk, some reggae, it's all there really.

Who's the oldest out of you lot?
(Abby) That would be moi.
(Rest) She's also the craziest haha.

Do you enjoy playing live?
Yeah, it's really great. I mean, the buzz we get off the crowd is insane, they love, and so do we.
(Ross) Yeah, and we also get to go places, it's incredible just how much hype we have without even releasing an album yet, we just have some videos on the internet and a street crew, getting us known around the world.

So you reckon that the album will sell?
Well, for us, it's not about selling albums, it's the live shows, so we don't care as much as others might if the album doesn't sell, we just care that people come to our gigs, and the album is just another means of convincing them of coming.
(Ryan) In short no! hahahaha.

What do you guys do in your free time?
(Ryan) Well I skate a little, I'm not amazing at it but I enjoy it.
(Ross) I just play my guitar and go to gigs if were not gigging ourselves.
(Max) I'm a graphics designer, I do a little freelance stuff now and then, and i design most of our graphics, like our logo, and our album cover *wink wink*
(Abby) I spend too much time on the internets.

So you're pretty normal people, when you're not busy doing band stuff?
We like to think so, I mean, losing who you are, hinders your music, you lose the feeling of being you, and just turn into a dancing monkey.

Is there a them to your album?
(Ross) Nah, it's just some songs we threw together *wink*
(Max) Shut up Ross hahaha. there is a them, it's about the rise and fall of humanity and how we all take things for granted, and aren't prepared to lose anything we own.
